As you may all be aware the dairy industry has been on the spotlight because of the current milk glut that is affecting thousands of farmers across the country. The Agriculture ministry is being required to put the necessary measures in place to ensure that the waste of milk is curbed and that the farmers continue to benefit from the industry.

We at Brookside are happy to report that our farmers continue to benefit from our partnership. The expansion of our milk cooling plant in Ol Kalou and other parts of the country has enabled us accommodate larger volumes of milk from across the country. We also continue to maintain and upgrade out fleet of refrigerated vehicles to ensure that our transit goods and raw products maintain their goodness and freshness for longer.

We hope to expand the production of long life products to accommodate a longer shelf life for our products as well as expand our export goods. With our expanded facilities at Ruiru and around the country, we intend to hit the market with a bang and to enhance our presence in the local and regional market.

Our farmers can expect a host of new packages as the year progresses, while consumers should look out for new innovative products. We will therefore roll out a more aggressive marketing locally as well as in the region and the continent. We are confident of accomplishing Goodness for all.

The world cup is coming to Africa this year, soccer has continued to be a great craze in the world and especially in our Africa. Although our national team did not make the world cup qualifications, great talent lies within the local teams. For this reason we continue to partner with the Thika United Team in the local football league. We hope that in this way we will be able to tap and nurture new soccer talent with the aim of making it to bigger tournaments in the future.

With the growth of the dairy industry both locally and in the region, we are still committed to upgrading the skills of our employees to prepare them for the new challenges posed by the technological changes that have seen the acquisition of new state-of-the-art production facilities.
Our training department continues to organize and coordinate regular training for all staff members.

Staff welfare continues to be key at Brookside. In line with improving the welfare of our staff, we adopted a new policy that gives priority to our current staff in filling up new job vacancies. This has seen some of our staff members get promotions in the various departments.

We continue to encourage an open-door policy and dialogue within our ranks, and the company will continue to strive to improve the welfare of the staff.
