Top of the 2009-2010 Kenya Premier League and boasting a clean sheet of 5 wins and a single draw is Thika United Football Club which is sponsored by Brookside Dairy.
The Club has enjoyed sponsorship from Brookside since the 2003-2004 season when the first order of business was to see the players outfitted on and off the pitch by sports wear manufacturer UMBRO.
The team mainly recruits it's players from the National Football games under the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association, another program the enjoys sponsorship from the company.
Thika United has been a contributor to the national squad National Squad-Harambee Stars-with names like Hadji Mwachoki, David Okello and Abdalla Juma Abdalla, Ivan Maimba, Denis Odhiambo Omino, Nicholas Muyoti.
Brookside dairy has also sponsorsed players from Thika United to attend football academies and trails in overseas clubs. Player who have more recently benefited from such sponsorship include: Francis Kahata, who went to Ghana to attend afootball academy, Chrispine Olando and Abdalla Juma who were in France for trials.
Kenya secondary schools sporting Association
We started working together in the year 2006 during the first term games.The event then received huge publicity freely from the mainstream media. The year 2009 marks the 4th year of working together with the association.
The sponsorship has grown to the tune of 4.5 million that goes to the Association and other monies that are spent on publicity and refreshment.
Out of these Games several boys who are talented footballers have joined Thika United Footbal Club. Recently 2 of these talented player went for trails in South Africa.
